Being very skeptical of many cases on the market, when I purchased my white iPhone a few days ago I went with the Otterbox Defender case. Don't get me wrong, that is a FANTASTIC case, but I didn't realize how bulky it was and it was kind of a pain to put into and get out of my pocket. I also didn't realize the white iphone had a different proximity sensor that the black phone and it made my screen stay on during phone calls. Because of these things, i decided to return the case to the Verizon store and go with the Commuter case (from Amazon of course). I wasn't too sold on any of the iPhone cases because of so many negative reviews on everything (I guess people are very picky). I am SOLD on these commuter cases, especially with the white iPhone. since nothing blocks the proximity sensor, the screen shuts off like it should when a phone call is made. The case also fits wonderfully. I noticed with my defender case that the flaps were hard to close around the dock connector. This is not the case with the commuter case. The dock flap closes easily and doesn't come loose, and the flap for the earphones goes in very easy. Over time, it looks like this could be a point of failure, but it wouldn't bother me that much. I chose the blue and white case, and it looks great! You can actually tell I have a white phone in my case, now and people tell me every day how great it looks. The included screen protector went on great, and I have no bubbles on the screen. Otterbox includes a beefy card so installation is a breeze (unlike the cheap Chinese made screen protectors) Don't let the negative reviews hold you back, buy this NOW!Pros: Looks great, fits great, gives phone great protection for its size, side buttons very responsive (easy to press)Cons: Earphone flap seems like it will break over a few months time I know Otterbox says this case isn't designed for the white iPhone, but I have not had any problems. It fits very snug, but not too tight, and your phone screen turns off when your in calls like its supposed to.

Just to finish off the story, I arrived home from work and voila! sitting in my mailbox was a FedEx envelope with my new OtterBox case. In less than a week, the complaint was made, replacement ordered and delivered! Well done!

To add to the Cisco hell-hole which you mentioned I would like to point out that those are products that were purchased, had contract numbers and Cisco was still reluctant to get off their collective asses to honor the warranty on their product. When did a serial number and warranty contract number become insufficient to get action taken on a faulty product?
